French Photo Diary #1

So, everyone, I’m back! I had a lovely time staying at my house in France over the last week, and after looking through all of my photos, I’ve decided to split my photos into three posts: a post about the town of St Malo (one of my favourite places) and two photo diaries. Enjoy the first diary!

Always when we arrive at the French house after unloading the car and having a cup of tea we head to the supermarket to stock the fridge, and I always stock up on my favourite French magazines: French Glamour, Vogue Paris and Jalouse. I also love Citizen K and French L’Official but they’d sold out. After that I spend the evening relaxing on my bed with my magazines, my laptop and a glass of wine. There is an absolutely incredible photoshoot with Laetita Casta on the cover and inside the July issue of Glamour- if you keep a look out I’ve got a copy and some other French goodies ready for a French themed giveaway on Tuesday!

The next day we’re all really recovering from the car journey at home, so I usually curl up with a book. And, yes, that is an entire plate of macaroons.

On Fathers Day we decided to go for a walk up the road to Villecartier, a local forest land area with play areas for children, country walks and a country running trail for people who like that sort of thing. I remember going there with my Mum and Dad when we first came to the area, and it is such a beautiful and peaceful, scenic walk through the woods around the lake. There is a little toy village on the lake, and people go around it in little boats during the summer.

My lack of a tan is proof of how much rain we had on the trip! It’s like we had June in April, so now we have to have April in June! My top is from Boden, and my jacket from H&M (£10 in the sale – absolute bargain!)

As the lake is a popular jogging area, there are loads of extra fitness things installed all over the trail, from climbing bars to sit up areas. Some of these were impossible, but my Dad and I tried most of them. My mother tried to get embarrassing photo of us doing them (there are loads) but this one is not too bad!

e

I must warn some of my newer readers that, as I am a photographer, and I studied Photography, Art and Art History for way too long I have a tendency to take some really weird and peculiar photos. If I like them, they usually end up on my blog.

i

We also went to the beautiful and idilic resort town of Dinard with its incredible views, blue waters and sandy beaches. The British Victorians loved to holiday here, and most of the beautiful mansions overlooking the coast were built by them.

j

Again, I went into full photographer mode on the beach.

We had lunch in the little village of Hede and I got my first seafood dish of the trip, a stone baked Italian pizza topped with shrimp, mussels (my favourite food), squid and baby octopus, the latter of the two I am particularly partial to but never get a chance to eat.
