Spring Essentials: The Skinny Pastel Jeans

On Wednesday morning I was out on a mother daughter shopping trip in my hometown of Canterbury, and neither of us were doing very well on the shopping front (well, I did discover that my favourite Whistles jeans now come in navy and that there is a rather lovely skirt in Hobbs I would love to try on, but neither are things I can afford at the moment!) After we had given up on clothes we were just walking through Marks & Spencer to get to the food hall, and something from their Limited Collection caught my eye...

Jeans: Marks & Spencer, Cashmere Jumper: John Lewis c/o Most Wanted, Nail Polish: Essie 'Nice Is Nice'

A pair of purple pastel jeans that match my favourite Essie 'Nice Is Nice' nail polish has been at the very top of my Spring/Summer wish list, and I was so shocked to be able to cross it off in Marks & Spencer of all places, and, wait for it... only for £29.50! My jeans usually cost £80 from Whistles! Usually I only get my tights, socks and vest tee shirts from Marks & Spencers clothes wise (get me to the food hall or the home section and it is a totally different story!), but I don't really give their womans wear much of a glance!

These jeans have got me very, very excited for Spring/ Summer. Usually I'm so-so about the collections, but some of my favourite high street brands are taking inspiration from one of my favourite parts of the world this season: California. How amazing are the new Kurt Geiger store layouts for example? Now, I don't usually shop in River Island, but I think I might head in and check their stuff out, as this behind the scenes video from the lookbook shoot in Los Angeles is wonderful!

Next on my Spring/ Summer wish list is a blazer and tailored either shorts or a skirt in the same fabric. I know there are a few on ASOS, but I'm not big on the crazy Mary Katrantzou-esque prints or too short shorts. Any ideas? I did have a dark breton striped top with a solid colour block colour at the top on the list too, but I might have popped into Jack Wills for a little something the day after I got those jeans too - I'll show you all soon in another outfit post!

What are you planning to buy for your Spring/ Summer wardrobe?

  1. These are gorgeous! I love pastel jeans (have a green pair myself) and I would have a pastel purple pair had they actually been delivered the year before last when I bought them! haha x

  3. I love these jeans! Such a gorgeous colour, and great for Spring. I tried on some lovely green skinnies in Matalan today, they were just £16 and I loved them but unfortantely they were too long for me :( Hoping I will be able to find some shorter ones x

  5. Haha I tried on the exact same pair of jeans but at Gap this morning. I ended up buying the pastel pink pair as I feel more comfortable in that colour, but you're making me regret it!

PS the M&S collection this season is surprisingly good!

I'm on the look out for a blazer or light coat that will see me through the season change. Here's hoping I can find a bargain too!

  10. I LOVE those jeans. I've seen some in Topshop that I have my eye on, never thought of trying M&S for jeans! Would have thought M&S for a shorts and blazer combo actually, maybe Zara or Forever 21. ASOS's are lovely but so not practical for some things with those short shorts.

  14. M&S always surprise me too, I always count on them for my socks and tights but I've recently been keeping an eye out on their womenswear too. I recently bought a lovely cardigan with a bit of cashmere in it from there and the price was so good compared to the likes of Topshop!
