Revisited: Converse All Stars

I have always had a love/ hate relationship with Converse All Stars. I always loved the way they looked on other peoples feet, and I loved all the different ways people found of wearing their high tops. My best friend has a pair of Sailor Jerry Rum edition ones that he has literally worn to pieces, and everyone has always told me how comfortable they are. More recently, I absolutely loved Jennifer over at Native Fox's post on different ways to wear Converse, and to me they have always seemed one of the more practical summer shoes
I got my first and only pair of Converse All Star low tops a couple of years ago. I did not opt for canvas as is traditional, but these rather wonderful metallic gold leather pair. I wore them a couple of times and they were fine, a little stiff but fine. Then they started giving me the most horrible and horrific blisters every time I wore them out, so they soon ended up discarded at the bottom of my wardrobe.

The other week, I found I had nothing to wear with a slightly summery outfit other than winter boots or Uggs, so I decided to pull them out to give them a second chance. Maybe my feet have changed shape, or got tougher, but they are not giving me nearly as much trouble as they used to and I've been pairing them with quite a few of my Spring outfits since. This is my favourite outfit to wear them with at the moment

What I think really appeals to me about Converse is how many amazing different colours you can buy. I really love these seasonal bright versions, which would look fantastic with the neon and pastel colour blocking trends we are enjoying at the moment!

Do you own a pair of Converse trainers? What colour are they, and do you prefer hi tops or low tops?

  1. I used to love chucks so much, but that kind of fizzled out. I still have a black hi top pair and a yellow low top pair. I think the low tops are easier to work with!

  2. I also have a love/hate relationship with my bright red hi-tops. I adore them, but they look so weird on me. Hmmm.

  3. I love my Converse too. I have a lot, but love my white lo top, laceless ones. They're so comfortable.

  4. Love Converse, I prefer the low tops as they're not so restricting!

  5. When I was 13-15 I wore converse and then just stopped when I hit 16ish. My friend bought a pair of black ones and it's been tempting me to buy a pair! They seem so comfortable, especially for those sort of days when you don't really want to get dressed up.

  6. Oh my gosh, is it too much of a stretch to say I'm a Converse connoisseur? I've owned Converse pairs ALL my life, I have so much emotional attachment to them. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing Converse right now! I think I've owned every color.

I don't even know, Converse are like my babies. I love your leather ones!

  7. you're making me want to buy more converse!

  8. I love converse as well but I haven't had a pair in ages. In high school they were a complete staple. I often think of getting another pair and forget until I want them. lol. I'm thinking of getting one in a nice pastel colour for spring.

Aaaaah converse for ever! I especially love the low tops I've got 3 pairs of! and the turquoise on your post are pretty cool ;)

  10. I love Converse, I have two pairs of hi tops, one are the standard white pair and the other are the slimmer sole in a burgandy colour! I'd love to get a pastel pair!

I've just done a post featuring my beloved Converse high tops. I have one pair in red and that's all I need. I wear them so much and couldn't be without them! I'm looking to get a pair of pastel low tops for summer, they're so comfy.
