While there are many, many things I have in my wardrobe in absolute abundance, the one thing that I think is a classic wardrobe staple that I think every woman should have, but I am rather lacking in, is a good, basic, all year round leather jacket. Think about it, lovely and warm and looks absolutely fantastic when layered in the Winter, and perfect to throw over any Summer outfit from shorts and a tee to a flowing maxi dress when it starts to cool down in the evenings. The jacket itself is also super versatile and will last forever.

I'm illustrating my point here with photos from Atlantic Pacific, an absolutly fantastic New York based style blog; Blair's looks sometimes really make me rethink how I can wear, style or combine even the most basic of wardrobe staples, and how I can incorporate more statement pieces into my very neutral collection.

Sidetracking from the leather jacket she has put over it for a moment, how perfect is this purple and lime green look? I think I need that skirt in my life if it is still available for sale - it is the ultimate maxi skirt!

I was hanging around the Dorothy Perkins site (I never used to shop there, but some of their collections over the last few seasons have actually been pretty good), and I came across these faux leather jackets in different, dark or neutral (Rachel approved) colours. Either if you're against wearing real leather, or you just want to go for a cheaper option (I recommend you also look for a Dorothy Perkins discount code on sites like MyVoucherCodes for extra savings) so you can splurge out on several colours, I think they are perfect (some of them also have detachable fur collars!) I think I might still save up to splurge on a Whistles leather jacket though, they always have some really great styles...
If you have a leather jacket in your wardrobe, where is it from? If not, do you have one, or a particular brand for one that you have bee lusting after?

I totally agree! A pretty all-year round leather jacket is so important. I'm wearing mine basically all the time! :)

I got my leather jacket in forever 21! I wasn't sure if I wanted one, because I prefer longer coats or jumpers and I feel like leather can be so stiff... but i LOVE it! and it was really affordable too! :) I think all saints do leather perfectly - when i'm reach I'll buy all my clothes there!

I recently bought my dream faux leather jacket from Miss Selfridge - a great decision. I definitely recommend buying one - I had no idea how much of a staple they were before.
ReplyDeleteI bought a similar style real leather jacket from New Look a few years ago for £25 and it has to be one of my best purchases!

I have one, but have little bit of trouble wearing it... It's a little different than the majority of my clothing. Lots of edge! I ordered mine from Victoria's Secret.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking since last year for a leather jacket and all the ones that are reasonably price are cheap looking! Still hunting...

I have one which I love. It's black with silver detailing, and it's from Conbipel. What I like about it is that it looks very casual when paired with jeans, but really chic with black pants or a pencil skirt. It really is a versatile piece!
ReplyDeleteThe brown one in the second photo is amazing!
