Places To Eat In London: The Primrose Bakery

I don’t think I will ever go to the Hummingbird Bakery ever again. Why? Because once you have tasted a Primrose Bakery cupcake there is no going back. After a leisurely brunch in Notting Hill and a wonder around Portobello Market and Camden Locks Sherin and I headed up to the Primrose Bakery in Primrose Hill to get out of the cold and indulge in cake and cookies.

While you can always get your hands on a chocolate, vanilla or lemon cupcake most of the cakes will be different every time you visit as they are all freshly and seasonly baked under the shop. As you can see everything was really gearing up for Valentines Day!

They have a fantastic selection of magazines to browse, including Australian Vogue which I had never really looked at before. This was my incredible chocolate bomb cupcake. A little bit more on that later.

How amazingly delicious do these mint chocolate chip cupcakes look? They’re also selling these at Tom’s Deli in Notting Hill at the moment, FYI.

As well as cakes, they sell lots of cards, kitsch stationary and American candy in store – the bakery really is the perfect place to stop by to purchase last minute birthday gifts! I got the candles as well as the cupcake for my 3rd Blog Birthday post in here.

So this was my cupcake. Rich chocolate cake topped with a marshmallow fluff dome coated in solid chocolate. My idea of heaven. While I love their classic frosted chocolate variety I cannot recommend this one enough!

Have any of you had cakes from the Primrose Bakery before? What is your favourite flavour? The Primrose Bakery can be found in Primrose Hill and in Covent Garden.
